Village Hall Future

A few years ago there were plans to update the village hall.

Unfortunately due to circumstances these plans were shelved.

We have now decided to go with option 3 minus changing rooms

There were 4 proposals.

1 Do nothing and just let the hall fall down.

2 Patch & Repair. Which is what we are doing at the moment.

3 Refurbish. Add changing rooms & meeting rooms etc on the back, update all areas of the existing hall

4 Completely rebuild the village hall either in the same place or elsewhere.

The hall at the moment is in need of some serious repairs. It was built in 1931.

Some of the work involves replacing some of the roofs, heating in the toilets, new storage areas and new rooms & storage.

Proposal 3 & 4 are the preferred ways with no 3 being the most favoured.

Both these proposals will take lots of hard work and time. They will  need lots of fundraising and village support. Without the village support the proposals will just die and we will be back into Patch & Repair.

Grants are available but there is a lot of hard work to do. Grants are at present being applied for.

A couple of options we looked at was to sell part of the car park for housing to raise some money to put into the pot or sell the site and relocate somewhere else in the village. The latter would mean land transfer land agreements and might not be practical but it is an option.
